The first Metropolitan Kallistos Memorial Lecture will take place on Thursday 16 January 2025 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Sophia in Moscow Road, Bayswater. We have the honour to welcome as the speaker at this inaugural lecture His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain who will speak on the subject of Mount Athos: Tourism or Pilgrimage?
A short memorial service for our beloved late Metropolitan will be served at 5.45 pm, followed by the lecture at 6.00 pm. The speaker will be introduced by Fr Stephen Platt. After the lecture at about 7.00 pm the Friends of Mount Athos will celebrate their annual Vasilopitta Party which will take place in the crypt of the cathedral and we are honoured that the cutting of the Vasilopitta will be performed by His Eminence.
There will no charge for attending either the lecture or Vasilopitta party and guests are most welcome. It would however help us enormously (to arrange seating/catering) if you could indicate your intention to attend. Please could we ask you to email Dr Maria Harff (foma.accadm@gmail.com) no later than 9 January – if you prefer a minimalist approach simply indicate which event(s) you plan to attend and the total number of your group in the subject line as follows: lecture/party 4.
