The People of the Paths

In a supplement titled “Our Places,” the Greek newspaper Kathimerini published an in-depth article about FoMA’s path clearing pilgrimage in May 2026.

Journalist George Psomiadis and photographer Dimitris Tosides followed FoMA’s famous ‘walking team’ led by Dimitris Bakalis – the team walks each day to a different different monastery carrying all their luggage/equipment/tools and clearing the paths as they go along.  The Greek text has been translated into English by path clearer and great advocate and chronicler of the mountain Wim Voogd.
