While war rages in the Middle East and the Ukraine, the world has forgotten the plight of
thousands of Greeks who have lost everything as a result of storms and floods in central
Greece in September.
Sister Theoktisti of the Monastery of St John the Forerunner near Larissa, a longstanding
FOMA member and contributor, has sent us a detailed report, which is attached below. It
lays bare the magnitude of what has befallen people in the region. We are therefore making
this appeal from the nuns the object of our Christmas appeal.
If you would like to help, please make payment by bank transfer to The Friends of Mount
Athos, Sort Code 30-96-64, Account No. 00058730, quoting as reference Christmas + your
surname, OR donate via PayPal (please add £1 to cover PayPal costs).
If you are not able to pay by either of these methods, please make your donation by cheque
payable to The Friends of Mount Athos, and send it to the Treasurer, Mr Peter Stevenson,
8 Harbord Road, Oxford OX2 8LJ, writing ‘Christmas’ on the reverse of the cheque.
For any payment queries, please email the Treasurer p.stevenson696@btinternet.com
